Maryann Jacobsen, MS, RD
Maryann Tomovich Jacobsen is a registered dietitian with 15 years experience in the nutrition field. Based in San Diego, Maryann works as a freelance writer, nutrition consultant and founding editor of Raise Healthy Eaters, a popular blog about family nutrition. She has written for CookingLight.com, My Recipes, Los Angeles Times, Today’s Dietitian and Today’s Diet and Nutrition. She is also a nutrition expert at WebMD Answers and an expert blogger at WebMD’s Real Life Nutrition.
Since the creation of her blog in early 2009, Maryann has become a well-known family nutrition expert. Her blog has been featured on Technorati’s top 100 for health and family, and she has written for other popular blogs such as Simple Mom, 5 Dollar Dinners and Org Junkie. She is featured in No Whine with Dinner, the book written by the Meal Makeover Moms, Liz Weiss, MS, RD and Janice Newell Bissex, MS, RD. Maryann has been named “expert curator” by OrganizedWisdom’s Medical Review Team.
Maryann acts as a nutrition advisor for SchoolMenu and contributes monthly articles. She teaches classes on infant and toddler nutrition at the Parent Connection in San Diego and has appeared on Real Mom TV, Parenting Powers expert tele-class series, and Dr. Susan Mitchell’s live podcast for healthy living. She has been quoted in leading newspapers and magazines including the Chicago Tribune, Parents, American Profile and Harmony.
Maryann received her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from San Diego State University and her Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the University of New Haven in Connecticut. She holds a certification in weight management from the American Dietetic Association (2004). She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and its Nutrition Entrepreneur and Pediatric Nutrition dietetic practice groups.
She lives with her husband and two children in San Diego.
